About Jerry
Jerry Basierbe was born in Detroit Michigan in 1959 and grew up in southeastern Michigan. His fascination began when at a young age when he was given a camera and a roll of black and white film as a birthday gift. Throughout the years, Jerry remained interested in photography and developed an interest in black and white landscape photography. By the mid 90’s, Jerry became more serious about photography and began taking classes at Oakland Community College and local photography workshops. He also attended workshops run by noted black and white photographers Howard Bond and former Ansel Adams assistant, John Sexton.
Jerry’s photographs are primarily of landscapes and seascapes. He loves to photograph in low light situations, preferably before the sun comes up and after the sun has set. He also likes to photograph in less than ideal weather conditions.
Although Jerry’s photographic roots are in black and white film photography and traditional darkroom processing and printing, he ventured in to the world of digital photography in 2009 and hasn’t looked back.
Jerry’s work has been shown in many group and solo photography exhibits in Detroit and southeastern Michigan as well as several exhibits around the United States.
Jerry lives in Livonia, Michigan as has worked for Ford Motor Company in product development since 1990.
